Situation concerning Mr. A. Zarenkov's detention in Estonia

Andrey Zarenkov, leader of the Estonia without Nazism human rights group and one of the publishers of the Baltic World magazine for Russian compatriots in the Baltic States, was detained by Estonia's central criminal police on 4 January 2014. The court prolonged his detention for six months.

Estonian law-enforcement bodies accused Mr. A. Zarenkov of bribery (9 incidents) as a municipal servant (Head of the Maardu Culture Centre).

When it intends to look into the circumstances of the above case in order to exclude any possible politicisation of the measures taken by the Estonian law-enforcement bodies with regard to Mr. A. Zarenkov.
