In the draft resolution, paragraph 11.3, after the word "purposes", insert the following words:

" and to immediately and unconditionally release all those held on politically motivated charges,".

Explanatory note

The authorities in Azerbaijan have been leading an unprecedented crackdown against civil society by arresting key critics of the country's leadership, including well-known human rights defenders in the last months. This paragraph therefore needs to have stronger language and include an express call for all those wrongfully imprisoned to be released.
