In the draft resolution, paragraph 4.2, replace the words:

"and to facilitating family reunification as soon as possible"

with the following words:

"and to facilitating family reunification when possible and in the child's best interest".

Explanatory note

Insisting on family reunification as soon as possible, disregards the fact that in some cases family reunification may not be in the best interests of the child. It is important to always assess the child's best interests, including with regards to the question of family reunification.
