The Assembly,
Considering that television provides the most powerful means of mass education and persuasion yet invented;
Considering t h a t the use of t h e visual medium renders television particularly suitable as a means of overcoming the language barrier which separates the mass of population in one nation from t h a t in another;
Considering that the television audience in Europe already numbers several millions of people and is increasing with great rapidity ;
Considering that this Assembly has access to various organizations and concerns engaged in or connected with the expansion of television services and the provision of television programmes,
Decides to include in its agenda the following question :
" Inquiry into the use of television as a medium for securing support among the general public for the European idea. "
and instructs its Committee on Cultural and Scientific Questions to undertake this inquiry and report thereon to the Assembly.
