Examination of credentials of Representatives, Substitutes and special guests

Thesaurus

1. In accordance with Rule 6, paragraphs 1 and 4, of the Rules of Procedure, the President of the Assembly has received the credentials of representatives and substitutes for the 1997 Ordinary Session of the Assembly, which have been transmitted in due form by the competent authorities of member states.

2. The Assembly is called upon to express its decision on the validation of the credentials of the representatives and substitutes whose names are given below.

3. Five seats of representatives remain vacant, including one for Albania, two for Cyprus, one for the Czech Republic and one for the United Kingdom.

4. Two seats of substitutes are also vacant for Cyprus.

5. In the case of objection or justified contestation, the contested credentials shall be referred without debate to the Committee on Rules of Procedure which shall report back to the Assembly, in accordance with Rule 6, paragraph 5, of the Rules of Procedure.

7. The Assembly is called upon to express its decision on the validation of the credentials of the special guests whose names are given below.

8. In the case of objection or contestation on the grounds of Rule 55 a, paragraph 1, of the Rules of Procedure, the contested credentials shall be referred without debate to a joint meeting of the Committees on Relations with European Non-Member Countries and on Rules of Procedure. These committees shall report to the enlarged Bureau at the earliest opportunity, in accordance with Rule 55a, paragraph 7, of the Rules of Procedure.
