PACE to observe the early parliamentary elections in Bulgaria

Sofia, Bulgaria

A 13-member delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), headed by Chris Said (Malta, EPP/CD), will travel to Bulgaria from 17 to 20 April to observe the early parliamentary elections, alongside observers from the OSCE's Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR).

The delegation is due to meet the caretaker Minister of Foreign Affairs and ministers responsible for various aspects of election administration, the team of election experts from the ODIHR, leaders or representatives of political parties and coalitions, the Chairperson and members of the Central Election Commission, as well as representatives of NGOs and the media, before observing the ballot on 19 April.

A substitute member of the Venice Commission – the Council of Europe's group of independent legal experts – will provide legal support during the visit.
