Olena Khomenko (Ukraine, ECPA), Chair of PACE’s Parliamentary Network on the Situation of the Children of Ukraine, made the following statement today:

“Just one day after International Children’s Day, Ukrainian children have once again become victims of Russia’s aggression.

During the latest overnight attacks against Ukraine, children were among those injured. This tragic reality is a stark reminder that, every day, Ukrainian children continue to pay the price of Russia’s war.

On behalf of the Assembly’s Parliamentary Network on the Situation of the Children of Ukraine, I strongly condemn these attacks and all acts of violence directed against civilians. The continued suffering of children is unacceptable and must not become normalised.

We call on the international community to intensify its efforts to stop Russia’s aggression, to protect Ukrainian children and to ensure accountability for all crimes committed against them.

Every child has the right to live in safety, dignity and peace. We stand with the children of Ukraine and their families and reaffirm our determination to pursue justice for every child affected by this war.”
