1. Considering the report by its Committee on Economic Affairs and Development on consumer protection policy ;
2. Considering that the protection of the economic rights of the individual rests on similar principles in all member States of the Council of Europe ;
4. Instructs its Committee on Economic Affairs and Development :
a to define, in consultation with the Legal Affairs Committee and the Committee on Social and Health Questions, the common principles establishing minimum conditions of consumer protection and assistance in Europe ;
b to survey the protective system thus defined, within a realistic work schedule, with a view to reinforcing its weak points step by step and, if need be, by redefining its guiding principles.
