The Assembly,
Considering that the acquisition by European refugees living in the member states of the Council of Europe of the nationality of their country of residence would be calculated to avoid the perpetuation of their problems ;
Considering that it would consequently be desirable to take all necessary steps to enable a considerably larger number of refugees to acquire the nationality of their country of residence ;
Noting that, partly because of their dispersal, refugees are not always well-informed on how to apply for naturalisation ;
Paying tribute to the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees for the measures he has already taken towards this end,
Expresses the hope that the High Commissioner will pursue his efforts in informing non-governmental organisations and the refugees themselves in the member states of the Council of Europe of the opportunities open to them to acquire the nationality of their country of residence, as well as of the procedures in force.
