Strasbourg, 30.06.2017 - “I would like to pay tribute to Simone Veil, who dedicated her life to women’s rights and European ideals,” said Elena Centemero, Chairperson of PACE’s Committee on Equality and Non-Discrimination, on Friday, extending her sincere condolences on behalf of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) to the family of Simone Veil.
“A survivor of the Holocaust, Simone Veil followed an extraordinary career path. As Minister of Health, she changed the lives of many women. Simone Veil was also the first elected President of the European Parliament and remained a committed European to the end of her life.”
“Her courage and determination have been, and always will be, a source of inspiration for all women and for future generations.”
