The Assembly, referring to its Resolution 1082 (1996) on the procedure for examining candidatures for the election of judges to the European Court of Human Rights, instructs its Committee on Legal Affairs and Human Rights to examine the question of the qualifications and manner of appointment of judges to the European Court of Human Rights, with a view to achieving a balanced representation of the sexes.
