Co-ordination of the Political Organs and Technical Services of the O. E. E. C, the Council of Europe and the Specialised Authorities
"The Assembly,
" Observe s that the Convention on Economic Co-operation of the 16th April 1948, is a crucial element in the history of European Union whose charter includes the Statute of 5th May 1949.
" Note s the considerable achievement in the way of economic co-operation by the O. E. E. C. on the monetary, commercial, and technical planes;
" Expresse s the desire that the directing organs and technical services of the so-called Specialized Authorities which it is intended to create?-with special reference to the earliest, the Coal and Steel Community?-may be housed, if not in the 0. E. E. C. building itself, at least close by that building, in order not only to avoid duplication of enquiries and of statistics, but chiefly to constitute in different wings under one roof a Ministry of European Union Economy, of which 0. E. E. C. was the prototype and of which it will remain the essential structure ;
" Invite s the Committee on Economic Questions of the Consultative Assembly, when it meets between sessions, to do so in the 0. E. E. C. building, accepting the collaboration of its registry services and technical experts, if required ;
And decides to submit to 0. E. E. C. for its opinion and if need be, for re-drafting, the various proposals of an economic nature which have been submitted to the Assembly by its members and committees. "
