PACE round table in Alfortville: choice of energy for the future

 

Strasbourg, 23.11.2011 - A round table on the table on the choice of future energy sources will gather experts and parliamentarians from the 47 member states of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe on 27 November in Alfortville.

 

In the present context of an energy turnaround, the experts will present the various foreseeable energy sources and their development prospects: nuclear, solar, thermal, photovoltaic, wind, geothermal, marine and biomass energy. An expert will also present the Desertec project, which envisages solar power stations all round the Sahara transmitting part of their electricity to Europe via high tension lines.

 

Organised by the PACE Sub-committee on energy, the round table will be opened by Christine Marin (France, EPP/CD), Chair of the sub-committee and René Rouquet (France, SOC), MP and mayor of Alfortville. Jean-Claude Mignon (France, EPP/CD), Vice-President of the PACE and chairman of the French delegation, will close the meeting.
