5th activities report of the International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (Doc. 3441)

The Assembly,

1. Considering the 5th activities report of the International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies (Doc. 3408) and the reply thereto of its Committee on Agriculture (Doc. 3441);

2. Deploring the Committee of Ministers' reply to Recommendation 707 (1973), and in particular its decision not to grant research scholarships to the Centre nor to subsidise its review Mediterranean Options;

3. Reiterating its sympathy and support for the International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies, which was constituted through the joint efforts of the Council of Europe and OECD,

4. Instructs its Committee on Agriculture to follow closely the situation with a view to finding practical solutions for the support of the International Centre for Advanced Mediterranean Agronomic Studies.

Situation in Cyprus (Doc. 3489)

The Assembly,

1. Having regard to its Resolution 573 of 29 July 1974 on the situation in Cyprus;

2. Having regard to its Bureau's decision of 5 September 1974 to set up a working party to follow up Resolution 573;

3. Conscious of its political responsibilities, and believing that it should spare no effort to contribute to a fair and lasting settlement of the Cyprus crisis in accordance with the statutory ideals of the Council of Europe,

4. Instructs the Bureau to take appropriate steps for a Cypriot parliamentary delegation that represents the two communities to take part in the work of the Parliamentary Assembly;

5. Instructs the above-mentioned working party and its Rapporteur:

a. to visit Nicosia, Ankara, Athens and London;

b. to report back to the Assembly's Political Affairs Committee and Bureau.

Conferences on Security and Cooperation in Europe (Doc. 3478)

The Assembly,

1. Having regard to the report of its Political Affairs Committee (Doc. 3478);

2. Recalling its constant readiness to further East-West dialogue;

3. Taking note of attempts to hold European conferences, with the participation of parliamentarians, devoted to security and cooperation in Europe,

4. Invites national delegations:

a. to follow carefully the activities of these European conferences;

b. to take into account in their own contributions to these activities the work done in this field by existing European parliamentary organisations;

5. Instructs the Political Affairs Committee to investigate the possibility of holding a Round Table discussion to be attended by politicians from East and West on future prospects for East-West cooperation.
