The Assembly,
Considering that the full support of an informed public is essential to the success of N.A.T.O.;
Convinced that the Assembly could be of great assistance to N.A.T.O. in rallying and simulating that support;
Recalling the terms of Resolution (51) 31 of the Committee of Ministers, in which it was stated that the latter had no objection to the discussion by the Assembly of the political aspects of European peace and security;
Drawing attention, moreover, to the danger of duplication of effort arising from N.A.T.O.'s activities in the economic, social and cultural fields, and to the benefit to be derived by both organisations from a close collaboration between N.A.T.O. and the Council of Europe in those fields,
Recommends to the Committee of Ministers that N.A.T.O. be requested to submit a report to the Consultative Assembly of the Council of Europe at regular intervals on questions of common interest.
