The Assembly,
Considering that the policies adopted by the Governments of the United States and Canada have a powerful effect upon the affairs of European nations; and
Considering the great services rendered by the United States and Canada to the cause of European Unity; and
Considering the desirability of maintaining close and friendly contact and consultation between the United States and Canada and the Council of Europe both at the parliamentary and the official level,
Resolves :
to instruct the Bureau to invite the United States and Canada to appoint Parliamentary Observers to the Consultative Assembly and its Committees;
to request the Committee of Ministers to invite the United States and Canada to appoint official Observers to the Council of Europe.
