Speeches since 2019

23/04/2026 | 11:44:25 Madam President, dear colleagues,  Almost every session, we meet here in this Assembly and we debate about the Middle East. And unfortunately the situation seems to be worse than ever. War crimes are committed on a daily basis and by almost all parties and all stakeholders. Tens of thousands of civilians have already lost their lives and many more are losing theirs every day. Mass bombings, terror attacks, the indiscriminate use of force by military or other organisations. At the same time... 29/01/2026 | 18:21:22 Mister President, Dear colleagues, This is a basic fact: if a 13-year-old boy comes to his parents and says that he feels that he is a girl, he doesn't magically become a girl. And if his parents want to help him, they shouldn't be prosecuted. Do you know who should be prosecuted? Those who try to administer life-changing drugs, so called "puberty blockers" to these children. This is a test, not for the left, as I said again – the left is already lost. But the Group of the European People's... 29/01/2026 | 18:17:04 Mister President, Dear colleagues, We wil actually vote in favour of this amendment, although unfortunately it changes nothing, because while it is a rotten compromise between the left and the Group of the European People's Party, pretending to be right, we have very dangerous wording at the end of it, because all of these actions are not prosecuted, so long as they do not attempt to change people. Well, what is the reason? If parents want to help their children, they do indeed want to change... 29/01/2026 | 11:40:15 Thank you, Madam President. Dear colleagues, Mr Piero FASSINO, congratulations on the report. It is very well-written, although it could have been worded more strongly in certain areas. And I hope that some of the amendments that were presented will go through in this Assembly. I want to focus on a group that is particularly persecuted in the Middle East and it concerns both Iran, it concerns Syria, it concerns other countries. And I'm referring to Christians. Christian people in Muslim... 26/01/2026 | 11:20:29 Thank you.  Mister President, dear colleagues, I am challenging the credentials of the Austrian delegation based on the fact that it may violate the principle of gender equality, that is, Rule 6.2.b. Currently, 66% of the representatives of Austria represent just one sex, while we should be striving for 40%. While this rule will firmly enter into force from 27 January, we are about to elect our next president, and the leading candidate is from this delegation. The presidential term is for two... 24/06/2025 | 12:32:47 Thank you, President, Excellency. It was a very interesting debate on the letter of the nine leaders about the judicial activism of the European Court of Human Rights. You also referred to it as addressing it as probably not the best way to approach this matter. But there is a way in the Convention, Article 46, that states that the Committee of Ministers can seize the Court for a ruling on the question of interpretation. Such a referral decision might be taken by the Committee of Ministers... 24/06/2025 | 11:18:30 Thank you, President. Dear colleagues, I'm hearing this discussion especially from the left side, and I see that many of you are outraged by the simple fact that nine government leaders decided to say, in a very polite and adequate manner, that they do not like certain aspects of legal reality that we are facing, certain aspects of judicial activism that we see on the part of the European Court of Human Rights. Now, I understand that some of you may not agree with the content of the letter... 08/04/2025 | 19:35:09 Thank you, Mister President. Thank you, dear colleagues, I am very saddened to hear what the left side is saying, because, unfortunately, it seems that you're still living in the world of fantasies, in the world of lies, and some of these lies are unfortunately reflected in the text that we are debating. What our colleague from the left just said about solidarity, about helping refugees. You don't have to lecture us about it. My country, Poland, accepted the most refugees, more than any... 08/04/2025 | 10:13:34 Thank you, Madam President, dear colleagues. And thank you, Madam rapporteur, for presenting this resolution. It is very important. It is certainly a step in a good direction, although we have some impression that it's only seen with one eye and the other eye remains closed. I will come to that a little bit later. First I will do something that I do very rarely because I'm in the opposition - I will agree with my government. But sometimes there are issues in which we agree. And we agree fully... 07/04/2025 | 16:47:15 Thank you, Madam President. Dear colleagues, On the progress report, once again, we will debate many issues here. We will condemn human rights violations all across the world, even outside Europe. Very important things. But we again turn a blind eye to the problems that we have here, at home, in Europe. In Romania, a politicised court first annulled the presidential election. Then a politicised electoral bureau banned a candidate with the strongest popular support from running in these...
