The Committee on the Election of Judges to the European Court of Human Rights held a meeting in Paris on 8 and 9 January 2024, first with Mr Titus Corlăţean (Romania, SOC), and then Mr Sergiy Vlasenko (Ukraine, EPP/CD), in the Chair.
The committee assessed the list of the candidates to the Court in respect of Serbia, Luxembourg, Bulgaria and Lithuania.Note
The committee decided to postpone until a later date its decision on the recommendation to the Assembly concerning this list.
The committee interviewed all the candidates on 8 January 2024.
The committee recommends to the Assembly, by a large majority, Mr Stéphane PISANI as the most qualified candidate.
The committee instructed the Secretary General of the Parliamentary Assembly to revise Doc. 15867 in order to present the list of candidates following the Latin alphabetical order, to avoid any confusion during the vote.
