11/12/2025 Artificial Intelligence
The Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) and the UK Parliament will hold a parliamentary conference on artificial intelligence on 15 and 16 December at the House of Commons (Palace of Westminster) in London.
This event, which will bring together parliamentarians from Council of Europe member states, policymakers, experts, AI professionals, academics and NGO representatives, aims to examine the latest developments in AI, the ethical and legal concerns it raises, and the role of parliaments in shaping the development, application and regulation of AI to ensure that it complies with democratic values and human rights.
The conference will provide an opportunity to exchange best practice, encourage co-operation, define parliamentary roles in AI governance and mobilise support for the Council of Europe's Framework Convention on AI adopted on 17 May 2024. This is the first-ever international legally binding treaty in this field, designed to ensure that AI respects common standards of human rights, democracy and the rule of law.
Video of the conference will be uploaded to the PACE YouTube channel shortly after the event.
