11/06/2013 President
Strasbourg, 11.06.2013 – In his address to the National Assembly of the “former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia”, PACE President Jean-Claude Mignon today welcomed the authorities’ willingness to “move forward along the path of European integration”.
In support of this process he proposed that a joint effort be started to consider how to focus better on priorities and to channel resources and expertise in those fields where there is a priority need for their intervention, so as to intensify co-operation between the Council of Europe and “the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia”. “These co-operation programmes, which could be part of an action plan spanning several years jointly drawn up by the Macedonian authorities and the Council of Europe, would enable the country to make faster progress along the path of European integration”, the President emphasised.
