Strasbourg, 29.11.2013 – Robert Walter (United Kingdom, EDG), rapporteur of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) for post-monitoring dialogue with "the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia", will make a fact-finding visit to the country on 2-3 December 2013.
Discussions are expected to mainly focus on implementation of PACE Resolution 1949 (2013) on the post-monitoring dialogue with that country, recent developments in the field of human rights, rule of law and democracy, and possible co-operation with the Council of Europe, further to PACE Recommendation 2022 (2013).
In Skopje, Mr Walter is due to meet, in particular, the President of the Republic, the Speaker of Parliament, and the Deputy Prime Minister responsible for the implementation of the Ohrid Framework Agreement. Talks are also scheduled with the Ministers of the Interior and of Justice, the Minister responsible for public administration reform, and with the Minister for Local Self-Government.
The rapporteur will also hold discussions with the delegation of "the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia" to PACE, representatives of political parties, the Ombudsman, as well as representatives of international organisations, NGOs and the media.
