A 13-member delegation of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), led by Stefan Schennach (Austria, SOC), will travel to “the former Yugoslav Republic of Macedonia” from 10 to 14 April to observe the conduct of the presidential election, alongside observers from the OSCE’s Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights (ODIHR).
The delegation will meet, in particular, the presidential candidates, the Chairman of the State Election Commission, the Minister of the Interior, leaders of the main political parties (to discuss issues linked to the early parliamentary elections on 27 April), and representatives of international organisations, civil society and the media, before observing the ballot on 13 April.
A member of the Venice Commission – the Council of Europe's group of independent legal experts – will provide legal support during the visit.
A PACE pre-electoral delegation visited Skopje on 11-12 March.
