Top officials from the world of sport gathered in Paris to brief parliamentarians on the latest moves to crack down on doping – including hard-hitting campaigns to warn young amateur and semi-professional athletes about the dangers of performance-enhancing drugs and measures to stop the production and trafficking of doping substances.
Taking part in the hearing – held by PACE’s Culture Committee as part of a forthcoming report – were top officials from the World Anti-Doping Agency (WADA), the International Olympic Committee (IOC), Europe’s football governing body UEFA and cycling’s world body UCI. Council of Europe Deputy Secretary General Gabriella Battaini-Dragoni also took part.
