Two years of war of aggression against Ukraine: “solidarity is not a luxury, but a necessity”, says Iulian Bulai

"This is not the time to succumb to war fatigue. While we recognise the social and economic challenges facing our societies, they pale in comparison to the devastation caused by Russia. As parliamentarians of democratic states, it is our responsibility to build consensus, to explain the need for the effort and to persuade our fellow citizens of it. It is our duty to make our citizens understand that the Ukrainian people are fighting for our values and for our future; solidarity is not a luxury, but a necessity", said Iulian Bulai (Romania, ALDE) today, opening a current affairs debate on "Two years of the Russian Federation's war of aggression against Ukraine", organised in Paris as part of the meeting of the PACE Standing Committee.

"Today, more than ever, we must fight disinformation. We cannot allow the aggressor to gain the upper hand in our national political debates. This would jeopardise our democracy, our freedom and probably the lives of our children", he added.

"On 24 February, I travelled to Kyiv with colleagues to attend the extraordinary session of the Verkhovna Rada and to express our support for Ukraine. Once again, I was deeply impressed by the resilience and strength of the Ukrainian people. I salute the courageous and tireless action of our Ukrainian parliamentary colleagues. I have no doubt about the imminent victory of Ukraine. This victory will also be ours," Mr Bulai concluded.
