The Assembly,

1. Emphasising the importance which it attaches to the conservation of Europe's common architectural heritage and itsintegration into the life of the community ;
2. Bearing in mind its Recommendation 742 (1974) that the intergovernmental activities in this field of the memberstates should be continued after 1975, and that this subject should be assured a permanent place in the WorkProgramme of the Council of Europe ;
3. Believing that discussions in the Assembly and its committees, and in the national parliaments, can play a valuablepart in stimulating interest and action ;
4. Noting with satisfaction the recognition by local authorities of their special responsibility for the protection of thearchitectural heritage, as expressed in resolutions of international conferences, and welcoming the decision of theConference of Historic Towns at Split to invite Europa Nostra to organise a continuing exchange of information andideas between them ;
5. Impressed by the greatly increased interest and positive action which has been inspired by the EuropeanArchitectural Heritage Campaign and by the valuable activities set in motion by the intergovernmental Committee onMonuments and Sites,
6. Resolves :
a to confirm its decision contained in Resolution 532 (1972) to hold debates at regular intervals for the purpose ofreviewing the progress of architectural conservation, and to repeat its request to the Committee of Ministers to supplythe Assembly with the information necessary for these reviews ;
b to press for the continuance and further extension of the intergovernmental activities in regard to the conservation ofthe architectural heritage, which have been developed during recent years, and for the establishment of closecooperation between the Assembly and any intergovernmental bodies of the Council of Europe concerned with thisproblem ;
c to ask all its members to take steps to ensure that national parliaments are made aware of the importance which theAssembly attaches to the conservation of Europe's common architectural heritage, and to the adoption of thelegislative, administrative and financial measures required ;
d to ask the President of the Assembly to convey to the European Conference of Local Authorities, the Council ofEuropean Municipalities and the International Union of Local Authorities an expression of the Assembly's satisfactionat the increasing interest which is being taken by local authorities in the conservation of Europe's common architecturalheritage, and its hope that there may develop a close and continuing contact between them, and a regular exchange of information and ideas on this subject.
