The Assembly,

1. Recognising the desirability of making full use of electronic data processing systems in national parliaments and international parliamentary assemblies, in order to provide improved access to a wide range of information ;
2. Believing that improved access to information will enable parliamentarians to fulfil more effectively their task of supervising the activities of the executive authority ;
3. Noting that certain parliaments have already made separate studies of the use of computers in national parliaments,
4. Is of the opinion that a full exchange of information among parliaments about their studies and experiences in this field will be to the advantage of all ;
5. Expresses the hope that national parliaments, fully conscious of the benefits to be drawn from the use of electronic data processing systems, will make arrangements for the exchange of information on this subject on a permanent basis ;
6. Instructs its Committee on Science and Technology to examine, in close consultation with other European parliamentary assemblies, the possibility of introducing an electronic data processing system for its own use, and to report back.
