Compliance with Resolution 2513 (2023) “Pegasus and similar spyware and secret state surveillance” of the Parliamentary Assembly

Written question No. 790 to the Committee of Ministers | Doc. 15925 | 08 February 2024

Signatories:
Ms Laura CASTEL, Spain, UEL

In Resolution 2513 (2023) “Pegasus and similar spyware and secret state surveillance”, the Parliamentary Assembly expressed its deep concern at the mounting evidence that Pegasus and similar spywares have been used illegally or for illegitimate purposes by several member States.

The Assembly urged five governments – Poland, Hungary, Greece, Spain and Azerbaijan – to provide information on their use of spywares within three months, to promptly and fully investigate all confirmed or alleged cases of abuse of spyware, to apply adequate sanctions and to provide redress to targeted victims.

Ms Castel

To ask the Committee of Ministers:

Whether, or at what stage, those member States have complied with the requests of the Assembly in its Resolution 2513 (2023), given that the three-month deadline has now expired.
