Mevlüt Çavusoglu today sent a letter to John Prescott, Chairman of the United Kingdom delegation to the Assembly, conveying the following message:
“I was very saddened by the news of the death of Lord McIntosh, whom I knew very well. His friendly and honest character and genuine interest in European affairs made him an outstanding member of our Assembly. His judgment and vision were appreciated by all.
He served very actively as chairman of the Sub-Committee on the Media in 2008 and 2009 and as chairman of the Committee on Culture, Science and Education since January 2010, despite his battle with cancer.
His dedication to strengthen the Council of Europe and parliamentary co-operation through the Assembly will be missed sadly.
On behalf of the Parliamentary Assembly, and on my own behalf, I would like to send sincere condolences to his family and to the United Kingdom PACE delegation".
