Albania: all political parties should now focus on adopting the reforms the country needs, PACE co-rapporteurs say

Strasbourg, 14.09.2011 - “We welcome the return of the opposition to the parliament. It is now very important that all political parties constructively work in the legislative process and adopt the reforms that are needed for Albania, including for it to start the accession negotiations with the EU”, the co-rapporteurs of the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly’s (PACE) Monitoring Committee for Albania say in an information note made public today.

According to Tomáš Jirsa (Czech Republic, EDG) and Grigore Petrenco (Moldova, UEL), the political stand-off during the 2011 local elections underscored, yet again, “the need to improve the democratic decision-making processes within the parties themselves”.
