First of all, I would like to thank and also congratulate the rapporteur, Mr Paulo PISCO, for the wonderful report concerning the diasporas.

I come from Turkey. As you know, there are more than six million Turks living in Europe. People living in Europe become part of the European country over time and thus serve the country of residence as scientists, doctors, engineers, artists, politicians, etc.

Here I want to give two important examples, namely the scientists Dr Özlem TÜRECI and Dr Ugur SAHIN, who were born in Germany, and are members of a Turkish family that moved to Germany in the 1960s. These two scientists are serving not only Germany but the whole of humanity with their vaccine invention against Covid-19. From this it can be seen that diasporas can play leading roles over time. I am sure that diasporas can have a high potential to contribute to their country of residence.

We as a Turkish group had given two amendments regarding adding Islamophobia to the text, and learning the mother tongue along with the language of the country of residence. The rapporteur had accepted these in the Commission. We thank him again.

It is very important to us that the diasporas can continue their cultural relations with their country of origin. They should have the full right to preserve them. The rights of the diasporas in the country of residence should also be protected – on a cultural, human, religious and also political level.

All member States should contribute to this. I hope and believe that this draft will serve this.

Tout d'abord, je voudrais remercier et aussi féliciter le rapporteur, M. Paulo PISCO, pour le merveilleux rapport sur les diasporas.

Je viens de Turquie. Comme vous le savez, plus de six millions de Turcs vivent en Europe. Les personnes vivant en Europe s'intègrent au fil du temps au pays européen et servent ainsi le pays de résidence en tant que scientifiques, médecins, ingénieurs, artistes, politiciens, etc.

Je voudrais donner ici deux exemples importants, à savoir les scientifiques Özlem TÜRECI et Ugur SAHIN, qui sont nés en Allemagne et sont membres d'une famille turque qui s'était installée en Allemagne dans les années 1960. Ces deux scientifiques rendent service non seulement à l'Allemagne mais aussi à l'humanité entière en inventant un vaccin contre le covid-19. On voit donc que les diasporas peuvent jouer des rôles de premier plan dans le temps. Je suis sûr que les diasporas peuvent avoir un fort potentiel de contribution au pays de résidence.

Nous, en tant que groupe turc, avions présenté des amendements sur la question de l'islamophobie et l'apprentissage de la langue maternelle en plus de la langue du pays de résidence. Le rapporteur les a acceptés au sein de la Commission. Nous le remercions à nouveau.

Il est très important pour nous que les diasporas puissent poursuivre leurs relations culturelles avec leur pays d'origine. Elles devraient avoir le plein droit de les préserver. Les droits des diasporas dans le pays de résidence doivent également être protégés. Sur le plan culturel, humain, religieux et aussi politique.

Tous les pays membres devraient y contribuer. J'ai l'espoir et l'opinion que ce projet de loi servira à cela.

liebe Kollegen,

zuallererst möchte ich dem Herrn Berichterstatter Mr Paulo PISCO für den wunderbaren Bericht bezüglich der Diasporas bedanken und ihm auch gratulieren.

Ich komme aus der Türkei. Wie es Ihnen bekannt ist, leben mehr als sechs Millionen Türken in Europa. Die in Europa lebenden Menschen werden mit der Zeit ein Teil vom europäischen Land und dienen dadurch dem Aufenthaltsland als Wissenschaftler, Ärzte, Ingenieure, Künstler, Politiker, et cetera.

Hier will ich zwei wichtige Beispiele geben, und zwar die Wissenschaftler Özlem Türeci und Ugur Sahin, welche in Deutschland geboren sind und Familienmitglieder einer türkischen Familie, welche in den 60er Jahren nach Deutschland gesiedelt hatten, sind. Diese beiden Wissenschaftler dienen nicht nur Deutschland, sondern der ganzen Menschheit mit der Impfstoff-Erfindung gegen Covid-19. Hieraus kann entnommen werden, dass Diasporas mit der Zeit führende Rollen spielen können. Ich bin mir sicher, dass Diasporas ein hohes Beitragspotenzial für das Aufenthaltsland haben können.

Wir hatten als türkische Gruppe an Änderungsanträge bezüglich hinzufügen von Islamophobia zum Text und dem Lernen der Muttersprache nebst der Sprache des Aufenthaltslandes gegeben. Der Herr Berichterstatter hatte diese in der Kommission angenommen. Wir danken Ihn nochmals.

Es ist uns sehr wichtig, dass die Diasporas ihre kulturellen Beziehungen mit dem Herkunftsland fortführen können. Sie sollen vollends das Recht haben, diese zu bewahren. Auch die Rechte der Diasporas im Aufenthaltsland sollten geschützt werden. Auf kultureller, menschlicher, religiöser und auch politischer Ebene.

Alle Mitgliedsländer sollten dazu beitragen. Ich bin der Hoffnung und Meinung, dass dieser Entwurf diesem dienen wird.
