PACE committee condemns ‘unacceptable and intentional’ violation of Polish airspace

Statement by the Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE), issued today:

“Joining concerns expressed by the President of the Assembly, the Committee on Political Affairs and Democracy of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe condemns the unacceptable and intentional violation of Polish airspace by the Russian Federation and expresses its solidarity with Poland.

While diplomatic efforts to end the war of aggression have intensified, the Russian Federation has responded by stepping up its attacks against Ukraine and beyond. It is a further demonstration that the Russian Federation is not serious about peace and diplomacy.

The committee condemns this further escalation of the war of aggression against Ukraine and reiterates its urgent call for a just and lasting peace in Ukraine. The Russian Federation must stop its unprovoked aggression and be held accountable for its crimes.

The committee also calls for greater support for Ukraine in order to ensure its security, its European future, and the protection of democratic security across the entire continent.”
