21/11/2025 Standing Committee
In order to give effect to Resolution 2394 (2021) on “Gender representation in the Parliamentary Assembly”, the PACE Standing Committee, meeting in Chisinau today, emphasised the need for PACE to amend its provisions relating to gender representation.
Adopting a resolution based on a report by Victoria Tiblom (Sweden, ECPA), the Parliamentary Assembly amended its Rules of Procedure by increasing the minimum representation of each sex in its delegations to 40%, as from the opening of its 2027 session.
According to the parliamentarians, these percentages must apply consistently across the work of the Assembly for the composition of delegations, committees and where possible other representative roles.
PACE also recommended amending the Terms of Reference of Assembly committees in order to rebalance the workload and mandates of committees.
