'The right of everyone to participate in cultural life': PACE hearing with the intervention of Frédéric Mitterrand

Strasbourg, 28.10.2010 - French Culture Minister Frédéric Mitterrand will speak at a hearing on "the right of everyone to participate in cultural life" that the Committees on Culture of the French National Assembly and the Council of Europe Parliamentary Assembly (PACE) are holding on Wednesday 3 November, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the National Assembly. (*)

The meeting, organised under the High Patronage of the President of the , will be opened by the Chairpersons of both committees, Michèle Tabarot and Gvozden Srecko Flego. It will follow interventions by Frédéric Mitterrand, Jean-Claude Mignon, President of the French delegation to PACE, Jacques Legendre, Chair of the Committee on Culture, Education and Communication of the French Senate, and Catherine Pégard, Advisor to the President of the Republic. Eight experts will contribute to the discussions.

The hearing is part of the preparation by Muriel Marland-Militello (, EPP/CD) of a report on "the right of everyone to participate in cultural life" which should be presented to PACE’s  plenary session in June 2011.

Participants will move in the afternoon to the Musée d'Orsay, where they will take part in an exchange of views on the Museum’s policy and actions to promote youth participation in culture.
