Strasbourg, 10.11.2011 – Kastriot Islami (Albania, SOC) and Michael Aastrup Jensen (Denmark, ALDE), co-rapporteurs of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE) on the honouring of obligations and commitments by Georgia, will make a fact-finding visit to that country from 11 to 14 October.
In Tbilisi they are due to meet in particular the Speaker of Parliament David Bakradze, the Deputy State Minister for Reintegration Irakli Porchkhidze, the Deputy Minister of Justice Tina Burjaliani, and the Deputy Minister of Corrections and Legal Assistance Giorgi Arsoshvili. Discussions are also scheduled with the working group on the Election code, the expert group on media reform, opposition parties, the Georgian delegation to PACE, as well as the diplomatic community and representatives of NGOs.
In Batumi, the co-rapporteurs will be meeting representatives of local and regional authorities and of the Constitutional Court. In Tbilisi and Batumi, they will also visit prisons.
