First regional seminar on social rights in Eastern Partnership countries

Organised in Chisinau on 18 May 2015, this first regional seminar on social rights in Eastern Partnership (EaP) countries will focus on the European Social Charter.

Members of the national parliamentary committees dealing with social rights will share their experiences and will consider ways of addressing the issues raised in the Conclusions of the European Committee of Social Rights on the conformity of national legislation and practice with the European Social Charter.

The meeting will be opened by Tuur Elzinga, Chairperson of the Sub-Committee, Liliana Palihovici, Deputy Chairperson of the Parliament of the Republic of Moldova, Head of the parliamentary delegation to PACE, and Ruxanda Glavan, Minister for Labour, Social Protection and Family of the Republic of Moldova.

Participants include Csilla Kollonay Lehoczky, Professor of Law at the Central European University in Budapest (Hungary) and former member of the ECSR; Tim Tregenza, Head of International Relations and Network Manager at EU-OSHA (European Agency for Safety and Health at Work); Jarna Petman, Professor in International Law at the University of Helsinki (Finland) and former member of the ECSR; and Andrej Hunko, PACE rapporteur on collective bargaining.

They will discuss present problems, possible solutions and examples of good practice in this area.

The Seminar is organised by PACE's Sub-Committee on the European Social Charter In cooperation with the Department of the European Social Charter and PACE's Parliamentary Projects Support Division.
