The Assembly,
Recalling its previous Resolutions 376 (1968), 399 (1969) and 420 (1969), on the situation in Czechoslovakia, which still hold good ;
Noting that Czechoslovak citizens are being condemned to severe sentences because they fought for liberal reforms and a greater personal freedom in a socialist Czechoslovakia ;
3. Expressing its concern that the present Czechoslovak regime has completely accepted the Soviet interpretation of the 1968 invasion of Czechoslovakia and has launched prosecutions against distinguished historians, denying them freedom of research and teaching,
4. Deplores the continuing trials of Czechoslovak citizens for political activities, which constitute a violation of fundamental human rights guaranteed by the UN Charter ;
5. Calls for the immediate restoration of civic rights for the individual Czechoslovak citizen, and particularly of freedom of artistic creation and scientific research ;
6. Urges its members to give wide publicity to the present regrettable situation in Czechoslovakia, and to this resolution.
